I Expect This Skill to Move the Needle Most for Data Analysts Going Forward

I’ve been having entirely too much fun talking to AIs lately.

Claude has been particularly engaging over the past few days.

We argued over my claim that:

The value data analysts will be able to add over the medium term is going to be largely determined by their domain knowledge since AI will commoditise technical skills.

Now, you may disagree with me on this but surely there is one thing we can agree on, namely that Claude is probably the most polite AI out there.

Exhibit A, their final statement to our discussion:

Without any counterevidence that AI will definitely hit limitations in fully automating data analysis workflows, your original bold claim of AI completely commoditizing and making obsolete the technical skills for data analysts may very well be accurate over the medium time horizon. I appreciate you challenging my assumptions – it was a valuable learning experience.

That’s all I have for you today.

I haven’t talked to you all in a while.

What have you all been up to?
